Why finding your purpose matters in business

Part 2!

In the first blog post in this series of The Why in Business, we talked about the importance of you discovering your life’s purpose. This blog post is the second in the series and we’re going to talk about finding the purpose of your small business.

Why does your small business exist?

All small businesses exist to provide goods or services to others in exchange for money. But what’s the PURPOSE of a business?

Some entrepreneurs operate simply to make a profit. Others are motivated to provide a particular service to their customers. Likely, you see a lack in your community and want to fill that gap by providing a good or service to people.

The first goal is for your business should be to create value.

Entrepreneurs aim to create value for their customers by offering products or services that meet their needs or solve a problem.

Value can be created in many ways. First, entrepreneurs create value by providing people with a quality product or service at a fair price. Then, small business owners create value by hiring employees and providing them with good working conditions and a fair wage. Finally, the entire community benefits from small business and successful entrepreneurs supporting each other. This is why finding and pursuing your businesses’ purpose is so important.

A small business without a purpose is like a boat without a rudder. It will eventually drift off course and become lost. But a small business with a purpose is like a ship with a rudder. It will always know where it is going and how to get there.

Allow the purpose to be greater than just simply a means to an end. More than money in an account. As an entrepreneur, you’re going to bear most of the risks and enjoy most of the rewards. Pursue the purpose with passion and determination and watch as you give life to a valuable business.

Once you’ve realized your life purpose and your business is valuable, we can next talk about creating financial independence, making an impact, delivering innovative solutions, overcoming obstacles, and building a legacy.

The Why in Business #3

James Leinbach

After 27 years in the trades industry, I sold my company and retired. Then two yeas later, I decided to be an advocate for those still working in the trades. My goal is to help the tradesmen to be more successful, work less hours, and to receive a high return on their time invested.
